Correspondence with Carl Zigrosser, 1937-1945.

Lamar Baker, a southern artist, worked for the Art Students League in New York. He and Zigrosser shared a social progressive outlook, and several of the letters touch on their views of the South. Zigrosser supported Baker's application to the Julius Rosenwald Fund and for a Guggenheim Fellowship. Included in the correspondence is a biographical statement. Over the years, Zigrosser wrote several forewords for pamphlets for Baker's exhibitions. There are also several brochures on conditions in the Southfrom the National Emergency Council and the Citizen's Fact Finding Movement of Georgia.
